It is unexpected, but I’ve actually been rather enjoying my week off the weights and focusing on Cardio a lot more. I was pretty sick end of last week and have been plagued with meetings during the working day so needed to get it all done in the mornings before work. It seems to have been quite successful, which makes me happy. Of course, not drinking during the week has probably made the biggest difference here. I’m also probably fairly dehydrated after this morning’s walk so expect to put back on some during the day.

Darkness is what happens to other people. Woohoo!

Picked up the FJ from Iron Pig today. They did a stellar job and I’m made up with finally getting all the parts on the rig. For once I’m asking nature to hurry up and go dark so I can see what all the new lighting is like. Now, does anyone have anything that needs winching? I have rope.

FJ Bruiser Stage 2 and 3

Our attempted timelapse without an interval timer. Spans a few days and came out really well! You can see Snowpocalypse come and begin to fade away and then all of a sudden the second blizzard hits and everything is blanketed again. Memories of DC 2010 in Feb.

#Snoverkill 1 – Breezy, innit?

All the parts are now on order and I can’t wait for them to arrive so I can get down to Iron Pig for the install. So why do I want new suspension? It is a spendy option but pretty necessary if I am going to be adding another few hundred pounds of steel to the front-end. The FJ Cruiser has kind of a lean from rear to front front wheels from the factory, but with an ARB bumper and Warn winch it would be freakin’ snowploughing the ground. So one reason would be to provided the added support necessary and level the car out. Another reason is to gain around 3 inches of lift, increased suspension travel and articulation for off-road.

Finally the Icon system gets fantastic reviews for ride quality both on and off road – suspension is something that you wnt to do once and then not have to worry about again. I managed to convince myself to shell out for the Stage 3 even though I was really drooling over the Stage 5 system with the piggy-back reservoirs. Just don’t need that excess though. Many would say that even the Icon system itself is overkill, however it is fully rebuildable and cheaper systems like the Old Man Emu (a very popular system) are not. So when you factor in that I am going to keep my Warthog until it explodes or stamped on by a Mastodon, and that I do most of my driving on-road the quality of the Icon makes more sense to me.

So what do you get with the full suspension setup? The Billet Upper Control Arm Kit, Extended Travel Adjustable Coil-over Shock Kit, Rear Coil-spring Kit, ICON Series Rear Mono-tube Shocks, Billet Aluminum Lower Rear Trailing Arm Kit and even more gubbins. Droooooling..

Warthog Stage II is shortly to be unveiled. We are going to turn the front-end into a muscle-bound fortress of pedestrian-smiting I mean tank-tough winching vehicle-recovering steel. And you know what that means – 4 more hardpoints for more lights! Naturally with all that extra weight on the front the suspension is going to need to be upgraded to cope. Erm, and I might have snuck in an HID upgrade kit for the headlights.

Plus, now I can actually have some fucking rope! I’ve always wanted to have rope. Charlie Bronson’s always got rope. He’s got a lot of rope strapped around him in the movies, and they always end up using it. You don’t fuckin’ know what you’re gonna need it for. They just always need it.
