Bio

Born in Stockport, near Manchester in 1975, I grew up wasting my life skateboarding until I finally turned into a man and began the infinitely more productive University career at Peterhouse, Cambridge studying dolphins and deep-sea shrimp instead. After only 12303 job interviews sprinkled among enlightening experiences exploring London’s underground techno-trance clubs it was either grow a beard and count penguins in Antarctica or do something else. The something else turned out to be emigrating from the UK in 1996 and moving to Washington DC to work for a high-end Business Intelligence company. Here I have learned the art of illusion and strive continually to manage releases of very large software platforms to impossible schedules with a high degree of confidence.

Jack of all trades, master of none. I must sample everything that the world has to offer before I croak and my interests range from the aforementioned useless wooden toys through windsurfing on boards that sink, diving with sharks, racing motorbikes, cycling, fishing, cigars, books, wrenching, single malt, and I am learning how to grill something without turning it into charcoal. I’m lucky enough to be married to the most brilliant woman in the world who designs web sites for a living and yet does not have her own because she is too busy doing yours.

I will continue being a child at heart until they nail shut my coffin.
